Let me explain… The USS Arizona is a great subject to model, and 1/350 is a great scale to model in. But the 1/350 USS Arizona kit leaves a lot to be desired. There are hideous seams in the deck. And the kit is made with really ugly and chunky staircases that most modelers scrape off. Some modelers scrape off the gun shields, too, and replace them with much finer parts – either photo etch from a kit or even scratch built. In the past, if you wanted to make changes to the kit like that, wood decks manufactured to fit the kit as molded would have ugly holes where you removed all that inaccurate junk. But NOT with this deck from scaledecks.com! We know what you want (we asked!) And so this deck comes with two versions built right in: 1) A deck designed to fit with the ugly and inaccurate staircases removed, AND 2) a deck designed to fit with the staircases, gun shields, and boat racks removed giving you a clean, uninterrupted surface to serve as a foundation for your scratch building that covers up all the scars in the plastic. But WAIT! There’s MORE! 😀 This deck ALSO includes two templates to allow you to cut out the holes for the molded in staircases in the event that you are going to be building the kit “as-is” and just follow the directions on the box. So if you are doing a basic built, we got you covered. If you are doing a standard built with basic photo etch ladders, we have a deck for that. And if you are going all-out and using this kit as a basis for a lot of scratch-building, we have the PERFECT solution for you, too!
